Overview

The Frank H. Netter MD, School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University seeks applicants for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Medical Sciences who will teach primarily in the pre-clerkship curriculum. The successful candidate will have a substantial role in teaching basic and clinical microbiology/infectious disease. The successful candidate will also be expected to teach broadly across the pre-clerkship curriculum and in particular, will be called upon to teach the pathophysiology of disease throughout the curriculum.

The Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University is graduating its inaugural class of medical students in May 2017. The school was founded with the aim of educating diverse, patient-centered physicians who are partners and leaders in an interprofessional primary-care workforce. Responsibilities

  • Instruction to medical students during the first and second years of the medical curriculum. The curriculum is organized primarily by organ system.
  • Teach broadly across the curriculum, the successful candidate will have extensive responsibilities for clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. We also expect that this individual will have a significant focus on teaching pathophysiology.Teaching occurs in a variety of instructional settings, including the lecture hall, collaborative classrooms, and small groups.
  • Additional responsibilities for clinician candidates may include participating as a Foundation of Clinical Care Preceptor in the Clinical Arts and Science Course.
  • Develop, coordinate, integrate, and deliver curricular materials independently and in collaboration with other faculty members.
  • Advise and mentor medical students regarding academic, curricular, capstone project, and career matters.
  • Additional responsibilities include scholarly activity, service on committees, and other duties as negotiated and assigned by the Chair of the Department.

 

Qualifications & Special Instructions to Applicants

Qualifications for this position is an MD degree. Successful candidates must present evidence of an established record of, or demonstrate a strong potential for, effective teaching, and a commitment to work productively with a team of medical educators from other basic and clinical science disciplines. Evidence for potential for productive scholarly and creative activity is also desired.
