Overview

Quinnipiac University's School of Nursing is seeking an experienced dynamic expert for its faculty opening in the Nurse Anesthesia program with a passion for teaching and learning to join our growing and thriving programs. We are a highly collaborative and supportive community that provides faculty members with:

This position is a full-time 12-month clinical-track faculty position within the School of Nursing. We currently have 63 students in the 3 available tracts of the program and are preparing to accept another class this fall. The program opened it’s doors in 2014 and has presently graduated 2 post masters classes and our first post-baccalaureate class May 2017. All have successfully passed their boards and are practicing

  

About the School of Nursing:

 

The School of Nursing serves nearly 1000 graduate and undergraduate students. Faculty and staff work with colleagues in our Center for Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences to create innovative interprofessional educational experiences that prepare students for today's health care challenges. The Center, completed in 2013, encompasses 325,000 square feet designed for collaborative learning including 48 pro-section stations, 16 standardized patient rooms, an exceptional health sciences library, 7 high-fidelity simulation rooms including 2 ORs and a PACU, health assessment labs, advanced diagnostic imaging equipment and classrooms outfitted with the latest technology. As one of a few schools in the nation to be holistically endorsed, we emphasize the psycho-social and spiritual aspects of care, as well as the physical. We offer traditional, accelerated, and RN-to-BSN programs at the baccalaureate level. At the graduate level, our Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program prepares baccalaureate graduates to be nurse anesthetists or nurse practitioners specializing in adult-gerontology or families. Post-master’s online options are specifically designed for advanced practice nurses and executive nurse leaders. A new online master’s program prepares graduates for careers in mid-level management, informatics, education or care coordination. Responsibilities

In this role, you will have a unique opportunity to share your clinical expertise with students in the doctoral level nurse anesthesia program as well as working with others in health sciences, nursing and medicine. Faculty also serve as student advisors and site visitors to our numerous clinical sites and have numerous opportunities to engage in service to the school, university and abroad as well as to professional organizations. Comprehensive support is available for faculty development, research and grants.

Qualifications & Special Instructions to Applicants

  • Earned doctorate in nursing/nurse anesthesia. Will consider candidates who are graduating with an earned doctorate by May 2018
  • Certification/recertification in the specialty of nurse anesthesia
  • Current or recent practice in clinical nurse anesthesia
  • Academic teaching experience is preferred
