The Department of Chemistry and Physical Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences of Quinnipiac University seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track physics position at the rank of assistant professor to begin in August 2018.


The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching and will be expected to develop and maintain an active research program involving undergraduates, apply for outside research funding and publish in appropriate peer-reviewed journals.

The breadth of programs offered in the College of Arts and Sciences provides the traditional strengths of a liberal arts education, with a focus on cultivating the intellectual and practical skills that students need for their personal and professional lives. The College of Arts and Sciences offers undergraduate majors in behavioral neuroscience, biochemistry, biology, chemistry, criminal justice, economics, English, game design and development, gerontology, history, independent majors, interdisciplinary studies, law in society, mathematics, philosophy, political science, psychology, sociology, Spanish language and literature, and theater.

In addition, the College of Arts and Sciences has 31 undergraduate minors, a combined 4 + 1 BS in Biology/MS in molecular and cell biology program, and a master of science in molecular and cell biology program.

  • Teaching of introductory physics lecture and laboratory courses in support of programs in the basic sciences, health sciences and engineering 
  • Develop and maintain an active research program involving undergraduates

Qualifications & Special Instructions to Applicants

  • PhD in physics or a closely related field at the time of appointment (August 2018) is required
  • Experience in the use of instructional technologies and in course development highly desired
  • Proven ability to effectively teach university-level lectures and laboratories 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Applicants with research interests that would allow the participation of undergraduate chemistry and biochemistry majors in mentored research projects are encouraged to apply.
